So your planning to visit Rome in November! Here is a quick list of some things to do and some events taking place in the city this year.

Firstly the weather in November begins to cool with the winter approaching. The month will start with average temperatures around 15°C and dropping to approx 10°C by the end of the month. November in Rome you can also expect some rain with the odd shower so dont forget your rain coat and umbrella. Although a little cooler the city is great for getting out and visiting the sights as the lines are usually a little shorter and the sights less crowded.

Another advantage of visiting Rome in November is that the accomodation rates in November usually fall to their lowest yearly rates so you may even find a hotel usually outside of your budget offering a reasonable price.

Starting off in November on the 1st is  All Saints Day. On this public holiday, Italians remember their deceased loved ones by visiting graves and cemeteries. This solemn occasion sees many Romans visiting churches and even visiting Rome's catacombs. You may find that churches not usually open are open on All Saints Day. Please note that on All Saints Day the Vatican Museums will be closed and its probably worth trying to make your visit there on the 30th October or on Tuesday the 4th November if possible as the day prior to All Saints and Monday the 3rd of November is notoriously busy at the museums. They will still be open however, so if these are the only days you can go be ready for the crowds. Otherwise if you wish to book a tour and skip the lines you can find out more info at Vatican Museums Tour.

Subsonica ROMA - Friday 21st November: 21:00 @ Palalottomatica, Piazzale dello Sport (Zona Eur)

Take a Rome By Night walking Tour

The winter time in Rome is a great time to wrap up in the evening and take a guided tour of the city centre. A 3 hour tour would take you around many of the Ancient City monuments visiting Piazza Barberini, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain and finishing off at Campo de Fiori which is a great place to then sit down for a drink. Taking a guided tour will cost €30 per person and you will learn all the history and insights of the city with groups usually no bigger than 15 people. Once you finally reach the end of the tour you may find yourself wanting a good drink. Most of the bars in Campo de Fiori offer the mushroom heaters to fight the chilly winter weather so you will still be able to sit out in the piazza and people watch!
